Giveaway Day 6: Santa Smart Art!

Ta-Da! Meet Santa.

He is no ordinary Santa, he is a Smart Santa!

I am so proud of this guy. He will decorate your classroom
with rigorous contraction learning! Once you finish him, you can
move on to 3 other activities to help your
students engage with contractions ! ! !

My pal reminded me that I sing for contractions.

We have a different second verse. See hers here.

It's sung to the tune Mary Had a Little Lamb

I'm the first word, don't change me
Don't change me
Don't change me
I'm the first word, don't change me
No! Leave me alone!

I'm the second word, I lose letters.
I lose letters
I lose letters
I'm the second word, I lose letters.
I get an apostrophe!

As always, I will give a few away.

  1. Hi Katie!
This Santa Contraction unit is JUST what I need. I have 4 little firsties struggling to make those connections with contractions and this would do it!
My favorite art activity was just posted last Friday so stop by and tell me what you think! These whimsical trees are becoming a monthly tradition in my classroom!
So nice to stop by with such a great giveaway! YAY!

    1. My apologies. My favorite art activity is having the students trace their hands on brown construction paper to make hand trees. I found some confetti snowflakes and they had cut out their hands, glued it on black construction paper and decorated with the snowflakes to show winter!

  7. I love the name of your blog! The Common Core is sometimes like taking bitter medicine - especially when just learning about it. Art - let's see, I guess always making my bulletin boards something the kids have drawn and written about. We have an art teacher, so I go with the easy stuff on my own. I follow you with the name susanlulu. I hope I remember your contraction song - cute!!
